Rybelsus 3 mg is the original oral form of semaglutide — a GLP-1 receptor agonist used on prescription to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes, as an adjunct to diet and exercise. This pack contains one blister card of 10 tablets and is manufactured by Novo Nordisk (India). The 3 mg strength is the standard starting dose for the first 30 days of treatment.

What Rybelsus is used for

Semaglutide mimics the natural hormone GLP-1: it increases insulin release when blood sugar is high, reduces glucagon, slows gastric emptying and decreases appetite. It is indicated for glycemic control in type 2 diabetes. It is not insulin and is not used for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How to use — important

Rybelsus works only if taken correctly: once daily in the morning on an empty stomach, with a small sip of plain water (no more than 120 ml). After taking it, wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking anything else or taking other oral medicines. Swallow the tablet whole — do not split or chew.

Titration schedule

Labeling recommends starting with 3 mg once daily for 30 days, then increasing to 7 mg once daily. If further glycemic control is needed, the dose may be increased to 14 mg once daily after at least another 30 days. The 3 mg dose is a starter dose and is not intended for long-term glycemic control.

Possible side effects

The most common are gastrointestinal: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, decreased appetite, constipation — usually milder after the first weeks. Important warnings: pancreatitis (severe persistent abdominal pain), gallbladder problems, dehydration from vomiting/diarrhea, and hypoglycemia when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas. Seek medical help for severe abdominal pain or signs of allergy.

Important precautions

Do not use with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2 syndrome. Tell your doctor about kidney problems, diabetic eye disease, pregnancy or plans for it (discontinue at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy) and all medicines you take. Not studied in children.

Storage

Store below 25–30°C in the original blister card, protected from moisture, and out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack.
