Lefabac 600 mg contains lefamulin — a prescription antibiotic from the pleuromutilin class, a full generic of Xenleta. It is used in adults for community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP) caused by susceptible pathogens. This pack contains 10 film-coated tablets for oral use.
Community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP) in adults caused by susceptible microorganisms: Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible), Haemophilus influenzae, Legionella pneumophila, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydophila pneumoniae. Lefamulin works by blocking bacterial protein synthesis at the 50S ribosome subunit and remains active against many resistant strains, including macrolide- and fluoroquinolone-resistant pneumococci.
Take 600 mg (1 tablet) every 12 hours for 5 days. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water (180–240 ml), on an empty stomach — at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Do not crush or chew. Complete the full course.
QT prolongation: lefamulin can prolong the QT interval. Do not use if you have known QT prolongation, ventricular arrhythmias, or low potassium, and avoid combining with other QT-prolonging drugs. Pregnancy: lefamulin may harm the fetus — verify pregnancy status before starting; use effective contraception during treatment and for 2 days after the last dose. Interactions: strong and moderate CYP3A or P-gp inducers (e.g., rifampin) reduce its effect — tell your doctor about all medicines you take. Liver: not recommended in severe hepatic impairment.
Most common: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, insomnia, and elevated liver enzymes. Stop and seek medical help for signs of allergic reaction or severe/persistent diarrhea (possible C. difficile infection).
Store below 25°C in the original package, protected from moisture, and out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack.
