Rifampicin Sando is a prescription antibacterial product of the rifamycin class produced by Sandoz. The pack contains PTP 100 capsules (10 capsules × 10 sheets), and each capsule holds 150 mg of rifampicin in accordance with the Japanese Pharmacopoeia. Rifampicin is used under medical supervision, most often as part of combination therapy regimens for tuberculosis and other infections caused by susceptible organisms.
Rifampicin is an antibacterial agent of the rifamycin class. As prescribed by a physician, it is used in combination regimens for the treatment of tuberculosis and for other infections caused by rifampicin-susceptible bacteria. It is always combined with other antibacterial medicines as directed by the treating doctor, which helps prevent the development of resistance.
The dose and duration of treatment are determined by the physician, taking into account the patient's body weight and the disease being treated. Capsules are typically taken once daily on an empty stomach, because food reduces the absorption of rifampicin. Do not change the dose or interrupt the course without consulting your doctor.
Rifampicin may colour urine, tears and sweat orange-red; this effect is harmless. Other possible effects include nausea, loss of appetite, abdominal discomfort and elevated liver enzymes. Allergic reactions are rare. Consult your doctor if severe skin reactions, persistent nausea, jaundice or other unusual symptoms appear.
Store at room temperature, protected from moisture and direct sunlight, out of reach of children. Keep capsules in the original PTP packaging until use.
