What Ingavirin syrup is used for

Treatment of influenza A and B and other acute respiratory viral infections (adenovirus infection, parainfluenza, respiratory syncytial infection, rhinovirus infection) in adults and children from 6 months. Prevention (post-contact prophylaxis) of influenza and ARVI in adults and children from 3 years.

How to use

Oral, with or without food; doses are measured with the 5 ml syringe supplied in the carton.

• Children 3–6 years: 5 ml (30 mg) once a day for 5 days.
• With marked symptoms or accompanying conditions (respiratory or cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, obesity): 10 ml (60 mg) once a day for the first 3 days, then 5 ml (30 mg) once a day for 2–4 more days.
• Children 7–18 years: 10 ml (60 mg) once a day for 5–7 days.
• Adults: 15 ml (90 mg) once a day for 5–7 days.
• Prevention after contact with a sick person: children 3–6 years — 5 ml (30 mg) once a day for 5 days; children from 7 years and adults — 7 days.
• Treatment is started with the first symptoms, preferably no later than 2 days after the onset of the illness. For children from 6 months to 3 years a 50 ml bottle with a 2.5/3.5/4.5/5.0 ml syringe is used.

Possible side effects

Rare: allergic reactions. The syrup contains sodium methylparahydroxybenzoate, which may cause allergic reactions, and maltitol — patients with hereditary fructose intolerance should not take it.

Important precautions

• Do not take together with other antiviral medicines without consulting a doctor.
• Contraindications: hypersensitivity to any component; sucrose-isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption; pregnancy; breastfeeding; children under 6 months for treatment and under 3 years for prophylaxis.
• Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been studied.
• Read the leaflet before use and keep it; use only according to the registered indications, doses and course.

Storage

Store the unopened and the opened bottle at not more than 25 °C. Shelf life of an unopened bottle: 3 years. After the first opening: no more than 3 months. Keep out of the reach of children.
